Girosa Rooms Caltagirone

Located in the historic center of Caltagirone, a 5-minute walk from the famous ceramic-decorated Santa Maria del Monte staircase, the Girosa guest house offers free WiFi in the rooms and covered parking nearby.

Elegant and spacious, rooms at the Girosa, which housed a nunnery in the 17th century, feature many original details and feature air conditioning and a private bathroom. Some also include a small kitchenette.

The land where the building is located was originally the garden of the ancient monastery of Santo Stefano, inhabited by Franciscan cloistered nuns.

The monastery was built in the 16th century, but following the earthquake that struck Caltagirone in 1693, it was renovated by the architect F. Battaglia of Catania, in 1760.
Inside the monastery there is a ceiling with roses decorated with paintings on wood.
In 1946 the master blacksmith Giuseppe Guerrera purchased part of the abbey’s land and made it the family residence and the headquarters of his workshop.
The building that houses the guest house has been well renovated keeping faith with the original architecture and offers hospitality in comfortable, carefully furnished rooms.
